New Orleans, LA, October 10, 2000 Only one year after the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) launched its AvKids (Aviation for Kids) Program at the Associations 1999 Annual Meeting & Convention in Atlanta, the program is poised to move forward on several fronts.
At NBAAs 53rd Annual Meeting & Convention in New Orleans, Association officials are announcing plans to extensively enhance AvKids.com, and they have begun to distribute a new brochure explaining what is available on the improved Web site.
AvKids.com is considered the key to distributing to students and teachers the educational materials that will help attract the next generation of business aviation professionals. The site features a searchable database of childrens books on aviation, resources designed to help teachers communicate aviation concepts, hot links to youth programs sponsored by other aviation organizations, and exciting new games.
Recently, a new publication titled the AvKids Activity Guide and Teachers Resource was added to AvKids.com, along with a speakers outline for business aviation professionals who have been asked to speak at a Career Day at their local elementary school. In addition, speakers now can obtain, at cost, AvKids merchandise to distribute as part of their presentations.
In addition, the Association is planning AvKids Days and a childrens book on business aviation.
The AvKids Program, sponsored by the National Business Aviation Association, provides resources for the classroom, free of charge, connecting aviators to educators and challenging students with fun activities. Kids learn lessons in science, math, geography and language arts while exploring the world of aviation, especially business aviation.
